Dividing-Wall Column Design: Analysis of Methodologies Tailored to Process Simulators

Dividing-wall columns (DWCs) are intensified processes that have attracted industrial and academic attention due to the reduction in operating installation costs compared traditional distillation systems. Several methodologies available for design of DWCs. Most them consist three parts: an analysis variables; structural (topology); optimization resulting preliminary design. This paper aims study widely used reported literature DWCs, i.e., Triantafyllou Smith (T&S), minimum vapor (Vmin), Sotudeh Shahraki (S&S) methods, along with their implementation on process simulators. A proposed modification S&S methodology is also presented. comparison methods carried out rated against designs total annual costs.
